Streets: World Round (April 30 – May 6)

For our streets roundup this week, we’ll start with this interesting new piece in Detroit. The mural painted by SEVER was taken from the Instagram feed of SABER (interviewed) and looks to be a tribute piece to some of the greats in the street art scene like Barry McGee, Os Gemeos, Kaws, Futura, and Shepard Fairey. Other walls you should take notice of include pieces from Chris Stain (Baltimore), Kid Zoom & Reka (Australia), Tellas & Moneyless (Poland), Jon Burgerman (Canada), Phlegm (UK), Jaz (Baltimore), Otto […]

Streets: World Roundup (April 23 – April 29)

Baltimore seems to be a hotspot for street art recently. Not only has Open Walls Baltimore filled the city with murals (see Gaia & Vhils), Martha Cooper also has invited some artists to Sowebo for some urban beautifying themselves like 2501 & Pixel Pancho (seen above). Other outdoor work worth mentioning this week include pieces from Fresh, Zilda (Italy), Persue x Ewok x Bates x Aroe x Esteme x Yes2 x Totem2 x Serch x Ever x Rime x Revok x Snow (San Francisco), JR […]

Streets: World Roundup (April 16 – 22)

Our weekly summary of street work is lead off by this new piece by the Mexico-based Liqen, whose attention to detail and surreal imagery has not gone unnoticed. He states – “This April I was invited by the “collective tomato” to paint a mural on a recovery project Xanenetla neighborhood, a neighborhood with lots of history to Mexico in the city of Puebla. ”Elotl” in pre-Hispanic Nahuatl language, corn (maize cob) is the staple food of this nation, I wanted to join the family idea how strong is palpable here, making each grain a person or animal, as a unit of a set. For some time I kept this idea to represent Mexico. Other notable walls last week include work from […]

Streets: World Roundup (April 9 – April 15)

As you have seen from our coverage, Richmond, Virginia just had a stellar cast of artists roll by for the G40 Art Summit. To follow that up, this weekend sees more murals in town for the RVA Street Art Festival with another sweet lineup of artists. We’ll have a photo summary of that soon but check out this first piece from Mark Jenkins (interviewed). Other murals to peruse this week include Sten Lex (Italy), Bumblebee (California), Herakut (Germany), Specter (Baltimore), Stinkfish (Peru), BTOY (Portugal), and […]

See them all after the jump…

Streets: World Roundup (March 19 – March 25)

Another weekend, another Streets: World Roundup here on AM. The highlighted mural this time comes from Tahrir Square in Egypt where Sheikh Khan painted one of the barriers that the Egyptian military erected to divide the streets that connect to government power centers. This wall, which was painted to look as if it was never there is one of many that the young artists in the area have painted over (story via Hyperallergic). Other street work that caught out eyes this week include Vhils (Luxembourg), […]

Streets: World Roundup (March 12 – March 18)

As always, AM has more street work to share with you in this week’s Streets: World Roundup segment. Leading things off is this sweet new piece from Zilda (interviewed) in Naples that benefits from a great placement integrating a tree (the extra phallic graf helps keep things interesting as well). As always, the thoughtful French street artist draws his own pieces which are often influenced by classic master paintings (like the work of John Spencer-Stanhope Rodham) and translates them into paste ups. See his process […]

Streets: World Roundup (March 5 – March 11)

Starting off this week’s roundup is this new stencil from Bast seen on the streets of New York. This is the first we have shown you from him since his collaboration with Aiko at the end of last year. See them all after the jump…

Streets: World Roundup (Feb 6 – Feb 12)

This week’s featured wall for our street art roundup from around the world is a sweet collaborative piece between Austrian artist Nychos and the German-based old school legend Flying Fortress. This mother bear mural was created when Mr. Fortress stopped by Vienna for a visit and if you are interested, you can see more footage in a video here. Other work worth your time to take a look at include Cranio (Brazil), Nick Walker x SheOne (Paris), Nychos x Flying Fortress (Austria), REVOK (Detroit), Hyuro […]
