Openings: Brian Donnelly – “Obedience & Savagery” @ Show & Tell Gallery

It’s always exciting for us to see emerging artists we enjoy pushing the boat out and really delivering solid showings of work. AM recently brought you a glimpse of what Toronto based artist Brian Donnelly was bringing to his solo exhibition “Obedience and Savagery”, which opened last week at Show & Tell Gallery, and after seeing these preview images we had high hopes for the rest of the work. Donnelly’s animal/human mash-ups were shown alongside Winnie Truong’s delicate coloured pencil work in the form of […]

Releases / Giveaway: Paul Insect – ‘Unclear Residents’ Folio @ Pictures on Walls

AM stopped by Paul Insect’s folio release event at Pictures on Walls last week to take a look at the ‘Unclear Residents‘ set. The evening presented a series of Paul’s screen-printed targets pasted about the walls, along with the selection of prints and a huge bank of page-spreads from the two limited zines available in the hand-made folio. At the time of writing, the edition of 80 sets seems to be close to sold out, with just 3 sets remaining. The scrapbook ‘Beat the Devils‘ and the […]

Openings: Tiffany Bozic – “Confiding to Strangers” @ Joshua Liner Gallery

Last week, Tiffany Bozic took a fresh batch of works (previewed) to the Joshua Liner Gallery for her exhibition “Confiding to Strangers”. This latest series was breathtaking to say the least as pieces consisting of paper and wood impressed the New York crowd that beelined their way to the show. Apparent in the artwork was Tiffany’s vision and talent that seems to mix Discovery Channel fascination with the imagination of an artist with a unique vision. Check out the force of nature after the jump.

Preview: Mantis “Altered State” solo exhibition

Self organised solo exhibitions seem to be a popular way of showcasing your art here in the UK over recent times, and the latest AM has got wind of is “Altered State” by Mantis this Thursday night. This has the makings of something a little different though, as Mantis is staging his exhibition in the disused Lord Napier pub in Hackey Wick over the course of one weekend. New works on show will include paintings, sculpture and small scale prints. The concept behind the prints […]

Openings: Melissa Forman – “Keepers of Creation” @ Corey Helford Gallery

Last Saturday night, AM stopped by the Corey Helford to attend the opening of “Keepers of Creation”, the new body of work from Ohio-based Melissa Forman. More photos after the jump…

Openings: Best Ever – ‘Some Anatomies of Melancholy’ @ Blackall Studios

We’d been anticipating Best|Ever’s debut ‘official’ solo show since first coming across some early examples of their work a couple of years back, and our recent interview with the duo of Neil ‘Best’ Edward and Hadley ‘Ever’ Newman only served to build our desire further to experience their paintings as a body of work within a gallery setting. AM went along to the opening night of ‘Some Anatomies of Melancholy’ last week, and B|E delivered a solid exhibition to a packed house. The main gallery […]

The show entitled “Due Date” will be opening in December and will be we think his first major show since the end of 2008 in LA. Discuss Elbow-Toe here.

Showing: Tim Barber – “Untitled Photographs” @ OHWOW

Over the weekend, Tim Barber’s first major US solo exhibition opened triumphantly at OHWOW in Miami. Well-known as the former photo editor of famed Vice Magazine, as well as mastermind behind the innovative tinyvices online gallery where up-and-coming talent is showcased, Barber’s own artistic vision takes center stage with Untitled Photographs, a collection of lyrical images as conceptually captivating as they are technically distinctive. Much like his contemporaries Dash Snow and Ryan McGinley (with whom the artist is close friends), the New York-based photographer is […]
