Leonard McGurr, better known as Futura, recently opened a show at Schusev State Museum of Architecture in Moscow, exactly 30 years since his first visit to the Soviet Union. Back in 1984, the artist was photographed breakdancing on Moscow’s Red Square, which was a symbolic act during tense Cold War times. Streets: Banksy (Bristol)

Yesterday, despite a recent hoax alleging his arrest, Banksy revealed his new work on his website – Banksy.co.uk. The piece titled The Girl with the Pierced Eardrum was painted the night before at Dockside Studios in Bristol, but shortly after the reveal it got defaced with a splash of black paint. The pieces is a parody of Dutch master painter Johannes Vermeer’s Girl With A Pearl Earring. Streets: Pejac (Istanbul)

Spanish artist Pejac (introduced) was recently in Istanbul where he created a triptych of pieces in Uskudar, the Asian part of Istanbul. The idea was to create an “eye trap” that will emphasize the strength and the illusion of the works by creating a sort of physical bond between them. Titled Lock, Poster and Shutters, the works where made between October 5th to 10th, using acrylic, sand paper and graphite. Thierry Noir, one of the true pioneers of street art in Europe, is currently showing his works with Howard Griffin Gallery at their new location in Los Angeles. This show presents a retrospective of the life and work of the French artist that created miles of illegal murals along the infamous Berlin wall in the 80s, sometimes literally risking his life for the sake of art. Ed Templeton recently released his latest photography book titled Wayward Cognitions, published by Thomas Campbell’s Um Yeah Arts, showing 20 years worth of capturing street life in it’s purest, rawest form. The skateboarding legend, artist and photographer, whose books such as Teenage Smokers and Teenage Kissers influenced a whole generation of young photographers, this time published a book that isn’t capturing or exploring a certain theme, but gives a good peek inside his extensive archives. Studio Visits: Jonas Lund – Studio Practice” @ Boetzelaer|Nispen

We had the chance to visit Jonas Lund’s Studio Practice project at Boetzelaer|Nispen in Amsterdam on the last day of the production process. By now, the “white cube” gallery space got a full art studio makeover with paint marks and scars of art making on every wall and surface. The works produced are scattered around the space, some hanging as the accepted ones, some marked as denied, and some still waiting for evaluation by the advisory board members. Berlin’s BC Gallery is opening a new season with an interesting group exhibition simply titled Abstract that opened September 26th. Featuring works by nine international artists, this show puts a focus on non-figurative artworks along with its possibilities and advantages. Experimenting with geometrical forms, materials, mediums and colors, often juxtaposing black and white, featured artists show their take on abstraction.
