Openings: Jeremy Fish “The Ambush” @ Fecal Face Gallery

Jeremy Fish’s mini show “The Ambush” opened last night at at Fecal Face Gallery in SF. On display was a large wall mural along with some wall wood sculptural pieces (one seen above). Available for purchase was Fish’s largest print to date (22″ x 34″) also entitled “The Ambush” with a run of 30 and reasonably priced for the size at $200.  Take a look at the print as well as opening photos after the jump…

Auctions: Dreweatts – Urban Art

In a matter of hours, Dreweatts will hold their first “Urban Art” auction of the year, being hosted at the Ultralounge within the London flagship location of Selfridges. The auction features some great pieces by a strong mix of urban artists including: Adam Neate, Banksy, Bast, Beejoir, Faile, Judith Supine, Nick Walker and Pure Evil. In conjunction with Tomokazu “Matzu” Matsuyama’s upcoming full-gallery solo exhibition Glancing at the Twin Peak opening in NYC on Friday March 6th, Joshua Liner Gallery has just released a stunning 30-color silkscreen print of one of Matzu’s emblamatic Kirins. Openings: Mars-1 – Nuclear Mystics + Nouar – You Look Good Enough to Eat @ Jonathan Levine

AM was on hand for a special preview night last Friday to witness the opening of two enticing shows at Jonathan Levine Gallery. Many of New York’s art scene, including Tara McPherson, David Choe, Esao Andrews, Adam Wallacavage, Sara Tecchia, Joshua Liner, and Travis Louie, came out to support the show. BMW Art Cars & LACMA Roundup

We stopped by the LACMA with some out-of-town visitors last weekend and were pleasantly surprised to see some old-school custom car collaborations between BMW and some familiar names. What’s that saying… “so old, it’s new?” The Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Rauschenberg, Frank Stella, and Andy Warhol painted BMW Art Cars, a series starting in the 70’s, will be on display in the BP Grand Entrance and can be seen free of admission. Teaser: Word To Mother @ Stolenspace

Last we saw, Word To Mother was in Hong Kong for a group show marking the launch of Adapta Gallery. His next show appears to be a solo “Lost for Words” at StolenSpace scheduled to open March 19th. This exhibition will feature “paintings in spraypaint and acrylic on wood, canvas, found objects and installation pieces… as well as a release of limited edition wooden boxes hand-made by the artist (contents to be revealed at a later date).” Discuss this show here.

Dr. Sketchy Anti-Art School with Ron English

On Valentine’s Day, Molly Crabapple invited AM to participate in a “life drawing” event called Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School. The guest artist for this session was our friend Ron English. Our first thought was… “There’s going to be a bunch of hardcore artist types sitting with their easels circling a ‘neck-ed’ model. Shepard Fairey Video – CBS Sunday Morning

Street artist Shepard Fairey was featured in an awesome segment on CBS News Sunday Morning. The video features an in-depth interview, provides a look at his “Supply & Demand” retrospective at ICA Boston (covered), discusses his recent arrest (covered) and legal issues with the AP, and contains some great footage of a young Fairey from the documentary “Andre the Giant Has a Posse.” Note: There is a brief twenty second CBS commercial preceding the video.
