Shepard Fairey x Arkitip – Launch Party & Installation @ ALIFE (Hollywood)

As we previously reported, Arkitip is putting out a special collaboration issue with Shepard Fairey and the release is right around the corner. To celebrate the launch of Issue 51 and all it’s Obey goodies, ALIFE is transforming their Hollywood retail location into a mini-gallery to host the release with Mr. Fairey. Openings: “Quiet Storm” @ G1988 LA

“Quiet Storm” opened this past Tuesday in Los Angeles at Gallery 1988. The four person show features new work from Krista Huot (Interviewed), Scott Campbell, ghost patrol and Roland Tamayo. Openings: Nick Walker – “A Sequence of Events” @ Black Rat Press

AM was on hand for the opening of Nick Walker’s (interviewed) “A Sequence of Events” show and book launch at Black Rat Press. There was a great turnout to see the original images from the book, which was a retrospective of the past ten years of Nick’s and also included some new imagery. Nick was on hand to sign copies of the book for fans, many of whom had waited much of the day to score the two now sold-out prints released at the opening. […]

Preview: “Dark Night Of The Soul” @ Michael Kohn Gallery

Michael Kohn Gallery is putting a nice spin on the typical show, presenting patrons with a fully immersive visual and auditory experience with “Dark Night of the Soul,” a collaboration between filmmaker and multidisciplinary talent David Lynch and musical artists Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse, a.k.a. Mark Linkous. Teaser: Adam Neate @ Olympia International Art Fair

Adam Neate has a new work titled “The Concert Pianist” and it looks amazing. Check out the background where Adam incorporates an audience using a photograph. His evolution from street artist to fine artist is progressing nicely as this piece is a finalist for the prestigious “Country Life Object of the Year” competition at this year’s Olympia International Art and Antiques Fair being held from June 5th-14th in London. Release Party: Yoskay Yamamoto’s Koibito – LeBasse Projects Colorway

Yoskay Yamamoto’s (interviewed) Koibito release party (announced) took place this past Wednesday at LeBasse Projects. AM arrived at the gallery at 6pm and even though the release party wasn’t scheduled to start until 7pm, there were already about 40 fans waiting outside. In fact, some fans started waiting in line as early as 9am. Once inside the gallery, fans could purchase the white/silver koibito, red/white koibito, postcard sets, “Screaming for the Sunrise” giclee prints and show catalogs. He’s back – after a sold out showing at Ambach & Rice last year, Josh Keyes moves to tackle the Rockies at the David B. Smith Gallery in Denver. AM stopped by Salon 94 to check out Marilyn Minter’s latest show “Green Pink Caviar.” One of our favorite photographers, Marilyn is again at her best with her signature style of showcasing glamor and its realistic underbelly. Through her unique vision, the viewer is transported to a world of vibrant colors and lusciously sexy subjects.
