The eighth edition of the Essential 1800 Artist Series features the artwork of Enoc Perez. This annual series was started by 1800 Tequila as a way to showcase art in a non-traditional medium and has featured the artwork of such luminaries as Basquiat and Haring. Recap: Luke Chueh – “Blood On My Hands” @ Secret Fresh Gallery

A couple weeks ago in Manila at Secret Fresh Gallery, Luke Chueh (interviewed) successfully opened his first solo show in the Philippines. Entitled Blood On My Hands, the work on display included paintings, customized sculptural pieces of various sizes, limited edition releases, as well as toys. Fans of his work will probably recognize the title as referring to the oftentimes blood soaked paws of his iconic sad bear character, an extension of the Los Angeles-based artist himself. Releases: Daniel Arsham – “Future Relic 07”

Today at 9 am EST, Daniel Arsham will be releasing Future Relic 07, a continuation of his series of limited edition sculptural works. The objects are created with repurposed material and are made to look like remains that future archeologists may discover from our time, hence the name. Often times, similar pieces have taken part in installations for his shows (i.e. Miami ’16) arranged like archaeological dig sites. Augustine Kofie’s Building From Memory exhibition concludes this weekend after a five week run at Openspace in Paris. This is the LA-based artist’s third show with the gallery and the title refers to the acquisition and repeated application of knowledge. Nuart Festival just announced the continuation of their series of curated Street Art buses (covered), as part of their on-going project to establish Stavanger as the world’s first ‘Art City’. The latest addition to the fleet of a local bus company Kolumbus has been designed by the M-City. Aside from turning the standard public bus into a three-dimensional, mobile artwork, the Polish artist created an engaged and provocative piece by painting a raft full of people on the side of it. On March 18th, Weinstein Gallery in San Francisco hosted a big comeback solo show by DALeast (interviewed). After more than a year of traveling and self discovery, the Chinese-born artist introduced a new body of work entitled Plasma. Closing last weekend at Thinkspace was an exhibition from Marco Mazzoni entitled Dear Collapse, his second solo with the gallery in Los Angeles. The Toaster art collective have opened a ‘pop-up’ exhibition at Jealous Gallery in London. Recap: Erin M. Riley – “Simple” @ Hashimoto Contemporary

Just last weekend in San Francisco, Hashimoto Contemporary closed a solo show from Erin M. Riley (interviewed) entitled Simple. The new weavings continue the Brooklyn-based artist’s provocative work pushing the boundaries of the medium with non-traditional imagery. Nude selfies, car wrecks, evidence of domestic violence – no subject matter is too taboo for Riley as she takes her tapestries to the next level rendering imagery that most observers wouldn’t even think are possible with medium of choice.
