The San Francisco art scene is about to gain a fresh face as our friend Andres Guerrero will be opening up a new haven for artists to exhibit in. Another must see fair during Armory Week is Scope New York, which always has an impressive list of galleries from around the world showing cutting-edge emerging artists. One such gallery is our mile-high friends from David B. Matt Small (interviewed) and his friend Zac Walsh will be opening a show next week entitled “This is Us” at the Signal Gallery (interviewed) in London. Small will be bringing more of his signature paintings with his colorful marbleized technique based on photos he takes off the streets. Preview: Morgan Lehman Gallery @ Pulse NY 2010

Of course, during Armory Week, there are plenty of other fairs in addition to the main Armory show. One of AM’s perennial favorites is Pulse, which is dedicated to showing only contemporary artists, and thus always feels fresh and new. One booth we’re looking forward to seeing at Pulse this year is Morgan Lehman, who will be showing exciting young artists including Paul Wackers, Eric Beltz, Andrew Schoultz and Ryan Wallace. Preview: R. Crumb – “The Bible Illuminated: R. Crumb’s Book of Genesis” @ David Zwirner

Opening March 4 at Chelsea’s David Zwirner is the latest exhibition of original art work from infamous cartoonist R. Crumb. For this show, Crumb will have drawings from his controversial comic version of the first book of the Old Testament, entitled “The Book of Genesis Illustrated by R. Crumb,” which after a half decade in the making was released late last year. This exhibition was previously at UCLA’s Hammer Museum. This past weekend AM had a chance to stop by Rosson Crow’s Brooklyn studio where she graciously gave us a sneak preview of her upcoming Deitch Projects show “Bowery Boys” opening on March 4th. As the name implies, Rosson uses her loose and dreamy abstract style to reinterpret the landscape & culture of downtown Manhattan. Some of you may remember our coverage from DC during inauguration week where Shepard Fairey sponsored a pop up show called Manifest Hope.
