The Brazilian brothers Os Gemeos are currently in Europe, working on a couple of different projects. Their first stop was in Paris where they collaborated with a long time friend and fellow artist/photographer, JR (interviewed), creating an installation in the tunnels of the Palais de Tokyo. During their stay at the French capital, the twins spent three days creating works for the ongoing Lasco Project curated by Hugo Vitrani. Gris1, a member of the infamous DMV crew from France, recently opened his Mixité Sociale solo at Galerie Artistik Rezo in Paris on the 13th of January. On January 14th, Galerie Le Feuvre in Paris opened the 3rd edition of the annual Paper Party group show. Their first exhibition of the year features the same concept they started a few years ago, showing five artists represented by the gallery – Mist, Paul Insect, Ella & Pitr, Pixel Pancho and Daniel Muñoz – San. In July 2015, Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei finally got his passport back four years after Chinese authorities seized it preventing him from leaving the country. In recent months, he’s been traveling around Europe, from UK to Greece, where he visited the refugee camp on Lesbos and set up a studio there. The Brandalism project started in 2012 in London when two friends, sick of the visual pollution of their city, spent five days reclaiming 36 billboards in five cities in the UK. Two years later, we saw reclamation of over 360 corporate advertising spaces with hand made original art works submitted by 40 international artists. Tonight in Paris, graffiti legend Eric Haze (featured) will be opening his show to the public at Galerie Wallworks. Entitled Reflex Memories, the exhibition will be the first solo in France from the American artist who found his fame on the streets of New York in the early 70’s. The collection of works incorporate some of his iconic arrows and stars as well as highlights some of his letterforms which focus on different meaningful world cities and years in the past.
