Streets: Pejac (Spain)

Recently, street muralist Pejac (Art Focus) painted at a unique location just off the the shores of Canabria in northern Spain. Paying tribute to a famous Monet painting, Impression, Sunrise, the locally based artist recreated the image on the barnacled hull of an old ship. Viewers of the piece can enjoy different perspectives as the tide rises and falls against the corroded “canvas” that Pejac used. Master muralist Aryz was recently in Granollers, Spain, where he spent more than two weeks working on this impressive new mural. Titled Priape and Dememter, the piece shows two Greek gods symbolizing fertility and nature. Slightly more realistic than the work we are used to from the Spanish artist, the imagery featured the mythological beings rendered with Spanish features. Spanish artist Pejac (featured), recently created this fantastic new outdoor piece in his hometown of Santander in Spain. More of an intervention than just a painting, this piece is called Wallcanvas and was created as a tribute to Lucio Fontana and his cut-off paintings. Inti was recently invited to La Mancha in Spain, in order to paint a large mural with his vision of Don Quijote, the famous book character by Miguel de Cervantes. Spanish artist Sam3 recently visited Barcelona where he created a new beautiful mural titled Park. Rendered with his familiar technique of using only black color and painting silhouettes, this public piece feels both very light and strong, fitting perfectly to the environment it is placed in. Two familiar names in street art, Shepard Fairey (featured) and D*Face (interviewed), united their efforts to paint two massive walls on the side of a building in Malaga, Spain recently. The seven story tall murals next to CAC Malaga were painted on an invite from Maus Málaga as well as from the museum and were representative of both the American and UK-based artist’s styles.
