We’ve already reported on some of the murals created on the streets of Ostend in Belgium as a part of the second edition of The Crystal Ship festival that took place last week. Four years after his last solo show in Paris (covered), graffiti artist Bom.K is returning to Paris for a solo show entitled Effects Secondaires (Side Effects) at Galerie Itinerrance opening on April 21st. The title of the exhibition refers to the sensations we managed to grasp from an artwork after enjoying the technique and subject. In addition, it also refers to one of the works in wood bearing the same name on the subject of overconsumption and the exhaustion of natural resources. Last week we introduced to you The Crystal Ship festival that just took off on the streets of Ostend in Belgium. The second edition of the event produced an impressive selection of fresh public pieces, showing the consistent and recognizable curatorial efforts with very few exceptions. Among 20 international and local artists, some of our personal standout pieces include the large wooden assemblage by Strook. On the 1st of April, the second edition of The Crystal Ship Festival officially started in the Belgian coastal city of Oostende. The launch of the event was marked with the arrival of the six meters tall Inflatable Refugee sculpture by Belgian art collective Schellekens & Peleman (seen above). This striking piece balancing on the border of public art, dadaism and interventionism, has travelled around Europe, from Denmark to Venice. Augustine Kofie’s Building From Memory exhibition concludes this weekend after a five week run at Openspace in Paris. This is the LA-based artist’s third show with the gallery and the title refers to the acquisition and repeated application of knowledge. Nuart Festival just announced the continuation of their series of curated Street Art buses (covered), as part of their on-going project to establish Stavanger as the world’s first ‘Art City’. The latest addition to the fleet of a local bus company Kolumbus has been designed by the M-City. Aside from turning the standard public bus into a three-dimensional, mobile artwork, the Polish artist created an engaged and provocative piece by painting a raft full of people on the side of it. The Toaster art collective have opened a ‘pop-up’ exhibition at Jealous Gallery in London.
