Streets: James Reka (Paris)

James Reka recently finished his largest mural ever at 18 Rue Regnault in the Arrondissement des Gobelins in Paris. Working five long days on a cherry picker, the Berlin-based artist spent some 250 liters of paint for this massive piece. Covering a 30 meters high facade of a 11 storey residential brick wall building, the Australian-born artist painted a recognizable colorful piece. After showing at The Outsiders back in 2013 (covered), Lucas Price aka Cyclops will mark his Lazarides Rathbone debut with a solo exhibition entitled Dumb Poetry. Murals: Sepe x Chazme (University of Bielefeld)

Polish artists Sepe and Chazme were recently invited to participate in the 1,2,3 Hoch 2wei project by the University of Bielefeld in Germany. For this initiative, the artists created a mural titled Unreachables inside the university lobby. The large piece is inspired by the current immigrant problem that Europe is dealing with, but also, the problem of Somalian pirates. As previously mentioned, the Portuguese collective Underdogs is currently hosting a solo show from Ernest Zacharevic. The Lithuanian-born artist, whose street works around his hometown in Malaysia have become viral sensations and one of the favorite tourist attractions, recently spent few weeks in Lisbon, creating and finally installing and opening his solo show Floor is Lava. Following the theme of this year’s Expo15 in Milan, which is “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life,” Wunderkammern Gallery organized a collateral art project titled Chained. El Mac recently teamed up with his friend Augustine Kofie (featured) once again and to paint a new piece entitled Icarian Flight somewhere on the streets of LA. This is not the first time the two locally-based artists have collaborated, and with a good reason we must add after seeing this mural. Releases: Pejac – “Meadow” Print

After his recent Asian tour that included Hong Kong (covered), Seoul (covered) and Tokyo (covered), Pejac returned to his studio in Barcelona to work on his next limited edition release. The image he chose for this release is a black and white version of his large canvas, Meadow, that he painted earlier this week. After Finok, Nunca, Sainer and others, the Underdogs collective from Lisbon are continuing their efforts to bring the highest quality street and urban art to the Portuguese capital. 1xRun recently teamed up with Roger Gastman to create an extensive monograph for one of the most legendary LA writers and graffiti icon RISK (interviewed). The Detroit-based publisher released these 350 page hardcover books on July 17th, coming either with a limited edition print or original artwork. The book itself covers the story of Risk, from the very early 80s to the present day.
