Another weekend, another Streets: World Roundup here on AM. The highlighted mural this time comes from Tahrir Square in Egypt where Sheikh Khan painted one of the barriers that the Egyptian military erected to divide the streets that connect to government power centers. This wall, which was painted to look as if it was never there is one of many that the young artists in the area have painted over (story via Hyperallergic). As always, AM has more street work to share with you in this week’s Streets: World Roundup segment. Leading things off is this sweet new piece from Zilda (interviewed) in Naples that benefits from a great placement integrating a tree (the extra phallic graf helps keep things interesting as well). As always, the thoughtful French street artist draws his own pieces which are often influenced by classic master paintings (like the work of John Spencer-Stanhope Rodham) and translates them into paste ups. Starting off this week’s roundup is this new stencil from Bast seen on the streets of New York. This is the first we have shown you from him since his collaboration with Aiko at the end of last year. This week’s featured wall for our street art roundup from around the world is a sweet collaborative piece between Austrian artist Nychos and the German-based old school legend Flying Fortress. This mother bear mural was created when Mr. Fortress stopped by Vienna for a visit and if you are interested, you can see more footage in a video here.
