On January 14th, Galerie Le Feuvre in Paris opened the 3rd edition of the annual Paper Party group show. Their first exhibition of the year features the same concept they started a few years ago, showing five artists represented by the gallery – Mist, Paul Insect, Ella & Pitr, Pixel Pancho and Daniel Muñoz – San. Three weeks before the official opening on the 6th of February, the historically designed landscape of Yorkshire Sculpture Park turned into sort of a construction site last weekend. With large trucks, cranes and other heavy machinery in place, the setup of the first UK museum exhibition by KAWS has begun. Different body parts, Mickey-like gloves and shoes with signature X’s on them were carefully assembled by the team that was installing the showing from the NY-based artist. We’re glad to inform you that some three months after their initial introduction and launch, the solidARTy.org project is still going strong. Created as an online auction website that raises funds for refugee help around Eastern Europe, they are currently having a whole new series of auctions going on. In July 2015, Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei finally got his passport back four years after Chinese authorities seized it preventing him from leaving the country. In recent months, he’s been traveling around Europe, from UK to Greece, where he visited the refugee camp on Lesbos and set up a studio there. Currently he is Paris, working on an upcoming exhibition at Le Bon Marché, an upscale department store. Another street art festival was recently held at yet another unusual and very exotic location – an insular region of France located in the Indian Ocean east of Madagascar – Reunion Island. After a successful sold out Los Angeles debut show with Thinkspace Gallery (covered), Sainer & Bezt aka Etam Cru rounded up their visit to the Southland with another signature, bigger than life mural. From the 6th of February until the 12th of June 2016, Yorkshire Sculpture Park will be hosting the first UK museum exhibition by KAWS. The show will include new large, bright, graphic canvases at their expansive Longside Gallery and a series of monumental companion sculptures which will be exhibited around the historically designed landscape of YSP.
