Last Sunday, AM dropped by the Levi’s Film Workshop, where they were screening the trailer for Born Under a Bad Sign, a film in progress by artist Neck Face and director Isaiah Seret. The upcoming feature-length kung fu horror movie, starring the artist was filmed in his alleyway installation at MOCA’s Art in the Streets exhibition. Those who attended the screening also got to see an extended fight scene (censored for museum audiences) which ended in co-star, Mindy Kelly, being decapitated. Neck Face tossed back […]

Last Sunday, AM attended the screening and Q+A for Kenny Scharf: More, Newer, Better, Nower, Funner, as part of a series of short films at the Levis Film Workshop, each based on an artist in the Art in the Streets exhibition. We only recently brought you a in-depth look at the amazing installation Swoon (interviewed) created for the Art in the Streets exhibition. Well, a new video (directed by Cat Solen) from the Levi’s Film Workshop has been released showing the behind-the-scenes preparations of that complex illuminated piece and not surprisingly, the delicate work required looked quite arduous and time-consuming. Streets: Blu for Los Angeles MOCA (Buffed)

If you blinked, you would have missed Blu’s newest mural in Los Angeles. Invited to by the MOCA to paint a wall ahead of it’s highly anticipated “Art in the Streets” exhibition in April, the museum apparently had forgotten that the Italian street sensation made his name making pointed political statements with his large-scale work, often site-specific and aimed directly at the local governments and/or corporations.
