This elaborate exhibition is the result of an extensive research and correspondence with the artist and her contemporary artists friends around the world. Through […]

We stopped by the studio of Danish artist HuskMitNavn only a few days after the closing of his solo show Morning (covered) and few days before he started working on his mural for the Surface project (covered). During the visit, we chatted about his career, his switch from graffiti to fine art, about the upsides and downsides of life in Copenhagen and found out few interesting details about his work and life philosophy. HuskMitNavn (RememberMyName) entered the world of art after being active in graffiti for many […]

Openings: Barry McGee & Todd James – “FUD” @ V1 Gallery

On May 28th, V1 gallery  in Copenhagen, or V1 contemporary art center as the artists renamed it for the occasion, hosted a preview of FUD, a two men show featuring  Barry McGee & Todd James. Being long time friends, this was the second time they exhibited together in Copenhagen. Matching their visual language that often celebrates ridiculousness and nonsense in any form, the show was titled with a made up word that can be found in James’ earlier works. Without being pretentious about the depth and meaning […]

Openings: Carl Krull – “Seismic” @ V1 Gallery

After a studio visit with Carl Krull, it was gratifying to see his new works displayed on the walls of V1 Gallery last week. Creating his imagery through a pattern of repetitive lines, the fresh pieces were collectively entitled Seismic and sometimes formed faces almost looking like pin art or other more complex compositions. Head over for a look if you are in around Copenhagen through October 25. Photo credit: Henrik Haven. Discuss Carl Krull here.

Studio Visits: Carl Krull – “Seismic” @ V1 Gallery

Ahead of Carl Krull’s current show at V1 Gallery, which opened over the weekend, we paid a visit to his studio to take a look at the new work. Situated at the top of an ancient building in Copenhagen overlooking the harbor, the impressive work space is a perfect setting to get the creative juices going and has indeed housed other artists throughout its history. Seismic is an appropriate title for Krull’s new work as he uses a very distinctive technique to produce his images […]

On Friday night, Geoff McFetridge presented a new body of work at the V1 Gallery in Copenhagen, his second showing with the gallery. The versatile Los Angeles-based artist brought with him a set of paintings featuring his signature minimalistic portraiture as well as a series of smaller pieces. Rounding out the exhibition were some of the ceramic works we first fell in love with back in 2011. Via Highsnobiety & It’s Nice That. Discuss Geoff McFetridge here.

Upcoming: Geoff McFetridge @ V1 Gallery

On March 21st, Geoff McFetridge will be opening a new solo at V1 Gallery, his second with the Copenhagen showspace after a successful stint there in 2011 (covered). Because the Los Angeles -based artist is a man with many talents, we as art fans are glad to see him back in the studio, resulting in some pretty sweet paintings like the one seen above that will be part of the show. He only recently completed work on the Oscar-nominated film Her, where he designed the interfaces for […]
