Streets: World Roundup (Oct 29 – Nov 4)

This week’s Streets: World Roundup feature is headlined by a new mural (photo by Lois Stavsky) in New York City by Ron English, who worked overtime to finish it before Hurricane Sandy hit. The piece (on Mulberry Street between Canal and Hester in New York’s Little Italy) depicting his Temper Tot character is a English’s first mural in Manhattan in about 25 years as part of The New York Comedy Festival and Vandalog’s series of indoor and outdoor installations collectively titled The Art of Comedy. After a big time collaboration with Os Gemeos, Spanish young gun Aryz has painted a solo mural for the Urban Forms Gallery event in Poland. Our Streets: World Roundup returns this week with this collaborative mural from Serbian twins Sobekcis and Zoer at the top of the list. The wall was painted on the westside of Copenhagen on a street called Sdr. Boulevard. Thanks for Henrik Haven for the photo. Streets: World Roundup (Aug 20 – 26)

The summary of last week’s street activity is headlined by this new mural from Aaron Martin (aka Angry Woebots) in Hawaii. The piece which is located in the kaka’ako district at the UFC Gym (BJ Penn) in Honolulu was painted in preparation for the upcoming POW WOW event. Streets: Phlegm for the 2012 Bloop Festival (Ibiza)

After a series of murals in New York, Phlegm continues his globe-trotting ways and head over to Sant Antoni de Portmany, Ibiza for the Bloop Festival (see last year). The new piece on the side of a building has an Escher-esque feel to it, but re-imagined with UK-based street painter’s characters and style. Also scheduled to make an appearance at the event are Interesni Kazki, Boris Hoppek, Btoy, Olek, Malarky, and more. Discuss Phlegm here.

Streets: World Roundup (July 23 – July 29)

This week’s roundup sees the return of David Ellis to the streets after the massive mural painted in Brooklyn last month. This latest tree piece was commissioned by Converse as part of they Wall to Wall campaign and features Ellis’ sinuous pattern (photo by Justin Carlson and courtesy of Joshua Liner Gallery). Streets: Phlegm (New York)

Sheffiield-based street muralist Phlegm recently made a trip out to New York and it looks like he brought along instruments of his trade as he put up multiple murals in Manhattan at the Fulton housing project on West 17th. Featuring his intricate imagery, the pieces follow his characters as they handle enigmatic and complex contraptions and gadgets.
